Broadcasting

Overview

Business Management students oversee the school’s organizational, financial, and public-relations systems—operating much like an internal administrative team. They handle communication, event preparation, and recordkeeping that keep the school (and its simulated workplace) running efficiently.

This program builds real employability skills such as time management, communication, and accountability—translating middle school learning into professional action.

Daily Activities

Students work daily to manage the behind-the-scenes business functions of the entire building:

  • Updating the school’s outdoor electronic sign with upcoming events, celebrations, and announcements.

  • Preparing financial folders, receipts, cost reports, and simple expense tracking for CTE and school events.

  • Maintaining inventory of supplies for classrooms, the library, and the teacher supply closet.

  • Preparing professional folders, name tags, and sign-in sheets for guests and presentations (such as Board of Education meetings).

  • Recognizing and celebrating achievements (posting birthdays, honor rolls, perfect attendance, and “Wildcat of the Week” on lockers and signage).

  • Recording data in Excel/Numbers (attendance, budgeting, or product tracking).

  • Supporting concessions, school store management, and cross-department projects (e.g., collaborating with Graphic Design and Broadcasting for promotions).

What Makes It Different

Unlike a classroom simulation, this is a real administrative department within the school. Students’ work is visible and functional—if they don’t update the sign, no one will. They learn reliability and responsibility through genuine school impact.
